1) Introduction

As the stress of modern society steps up with time, coupled with imbalance diet and inadequate exercises, it has gradually led to the increase in incidences of metabolism dysfunction, resulting in a greater number of people suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Hyperlipidemia and Cardiovascular Disease. As these are chronic diseases, it may take years before any clinical symptom surface. On April 2016, Singapore Ministry of Health has declared war on diabetes, describing it as one of the biggest drains on the healthcare system.

In addition, our team also focus on tackling its resulting complications that may develop, such as cardiovascular disease, stroke etc. It is crucial to treat a disease before it takes form, which has long been recognized by ancient TCM theories as “preventive treatment”. Our team’s main objective is to educate our patients to maintain a proper and balanced lifestyle, to exercise self-control in the management of the disease and its complications, which will ultimately help in improving their quality of lives and disease outcome.

3) Scope of Treatment:

Patients diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Hyperlipidemia and Cardiovascular Disease are eligible to apply to join Metabolism Special Clinic. Patients are required to bring along their medical reports during consultation.

4) Treatment Approach

We survey our patients from two different aspects: 1) modern disease diagnosis by studying their past medical reports 2) TCM syndrome classification by using Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnostic method. Therefore providing a more all-rounded treatment for needed patients.

We would advise patient to continue on their western medications as primary treatment, with complementary use of TCM herbal medicine to regulate the inner environment of body in order to maintain a balanced state. A 3-month course of treatment is recommended, with 2-3 packets of herbal medicine taken each week.
